[00:08.22]More than 40 others were injured. [00:12.22]One man was arrested and charged with murder [00:16.40]in connection with the attacks, [00:18.88]which happened in the city of Christchurch. [00:23.04]Two other suspects were also being held. [00:27.42]Officials said that, as of Friday night, [00:32.86]49 people were confirmed dead. [00:36.33]Health officials said at least 48 other people [00:41.35]were being treated for gunshot wounds. [00:44.51]Injuries ranged from minor to serious. [00:49.52]New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern [00:54.77]described the shootings as a terrorist attack. [00:59.14]She said Friday was one of her country's "darkest days." [01:05.22]Ardern said the government raised the national security [01:10.26]threat level from low to high, the second-highest level. [01:15.33]By late Friday, officials had not named the suspect [01:21.78]who was charged or the others being held. [01:25.68]Police said none had been on any terrorist watch list. [01:31.42]Police also said they had found explosive devices in a vehicle. [01:38.01]A man who claimed responsibility for the shootings [01:43.26]left a 74-page anti-immigrant manifesto. [01:48.51]In it, he identified himself as a 28-year-old white Australian. [01:55.06]He used the term "white genocide." [01:58.98]The term is often used by racist groups to describe the effects [02:05.41]of immigration and the growth of minority populations. [02:10.27]The manifesto cited white genocide as a motivation for the attacks. [02:17.45]The man who claimed responsibility wrote [02:22.47]that he came to New Zealand only to plan and train for the shootings. [02:27.85]He said he acted alone and that no group ordered the attacks. [02:34.22]He said he chose New Zealand to show [02:38.51]that even the most distant parts of the world [02:41.82]were not free of "mass immigration." [02:45.72]Ardern told a news conference that many people affected [02:50.57]by the shootings may have been migrants or refugees. [02:55.83]"They have chosen to make New Zealand their home, [03:00.14]and it is their home," she said. "They are us." [03:05.36]Ardern said of the suspects, "These are people [03:10.24]who I would describe as having extremist views [03:14.08]that have absolutely no place in New Zealand. [03:18.37]The gunman reportedly broadcast live footage of one of the attacks. [03:25.08]The video shows him shooting for more than two minutes [03:30.36]inside a mosque, the Associated Press reported. [03:34.96]The gunman is shown taking repeated shots [03:38.98]at people gathered to attend religious services. [03:43.00]The video continues as the shooter [03:46.87]walks out of the mosque and onto the street, [03:50.19]where he fires at people there, the AP reported. [03:54.94]Later, he is shown going back into the mosque, [03:58.65]where at least 20 people are seen lying on the ground. [04:03.43]After walking outside again and shooting more, [04:07.64]he gets into a car and drives away. [04:10.77]I'm Bryan Lynn. [04:13.51]更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
