[00:08.52]But now Toledo is working with new materials: [00:13.32]used masks and syringes from the COVID-19 pandemic. [00:19.80]His aim is to create a show that explores the painful effects of the virus. [00:27.52]Toledo has made jewelry for the musical "Evita" on Broadway in New York. [00:34.12]He has created special pieces for people like [00:38.08]former U.S. President Barack Obama and singer Madonna. [00:44.92]Toledo was among the first in Argentina [00:48.00]to become infected with COVID-19 a year ago. [00:52.88]He was hospitalized for eight days. [00:56.56]The experience affected him deeply. [00:59.92]It led him to begin creating new kinds of artwork, [01:04.92]such as a 14-meter mask with the Argentine flag, [01:09.72]which he placed on the famous Obelisk in Buenos Aires. [01:14.44]His new show is called the "Museum of the After." [01:19.32]Toledo has been collecting coronavirus waste [01:23.00]sent by hospitals, laboratories and other people. [01:27.12]The waste materials include old vaccines [01:30.76]and newspaper stories about the pandemic. [01:34.20]"I am excited to be able to transform pain into beauty [01:40.08]and this exhibition is just that, capturing everything [01:45.44]that is happening to us as a society," Toledo told Reuters reporters. [01:52.04]His latest works of art will go on show in September [01:56.68]in a public area in Buenos Aires. [02:00.32]They will all be made from materials that people have sent him. [02:04.68]"It is the first time that I do an exhibition [02:08.88]in which I do not have to buy any of the elements," he said. [02:13.20]Part of the exhibition includes a ship [02:17.08]that crosses a "storm," as well as recycling islands. [02:22.96]"The exhibition will tell the story of this ship [02:26.68]that went sailing and was stranded after the storm, [02:30.76]which is a great metaphor for what is happening to us," Toledo said. [02:37.24]The idea of the ‘Museum of the After' is [02:40.52]to represent the world during COVID-19 [02:44.36]and to recreate it in other places, Toledo explained. [02:49.80]He added that he hoped to "get a physical museum [02:54.28]to leave the work for posterity." [02:57.80]I'm Susan Shand. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
