[00:13.80]The young girl also can read music. [00:17.44]She can even play a piece of classical music from Beethoven. [00:23.32]It is called "Sonatina in F Major." [00:29.00]Brigitte's feet hang above the floor [00:32.36]when the small girl sits on the piano seat. [00:37.00]Her hands move spiritedly across the piano keys. [00:43.04]She shyly looked down when her mother, Nicole Sun, [00:48.44]asked if she likes piano and if it is fun. [00:54.24]"Yeah, fun," Brigitte replied. [00:57.84]The young girl wears her long brown hair tied back. [01:04.44]Brigitte's father, Tao Xie of Ridgefield, Connecticut, [01:10.04]signed her up for online piano classes on Zoom about a year ago. [01:17.60]The video conferencing program become a popular way [01:22.40]to attend all kinds of classes during the COVID-19 pandemic. [01:28.80]Tao bought the lessons to give his daughter something to do [01:34.76]after officials ordered people to stay at home. [01:40.04]"At the beginning, I never expected [01:42.92]that she's going to be a prodigy or anything," he said. [01:48.52]But he was happily surprised that it happened. [01:53.20]Brigitte is the youngest winner of the well-respected [01:58.28]Elite International Music Competition. [02:02.56]That win earned her the chance to perform at Carnegie Hall. [02:09.20]In November 2020, she was supposed to play there [02:13.64]as part of a competition called [02:16.84]the American Protégé International Music Talent Competition. [02:24.28]But it got delayed to this November and now to November 2022 [02:32.00]because of the ongoing COVID-19 crisis. [02:38.20]Brigitte's mother gives credit to her piano teacher, Felicia Feng Zhang. [02:46.44]"Brigitte came to me when she was just two months [02:50.56]after three years old," her teacher said. [02:55.40]"From the lessons, I observed she has a curious mind [03:00.12]and she loves to learn. We call that passion." [03:05.36]She added that, during the lessons, the girl's "big eyes really, [03:10.72]really watch me and how I demonstrate." [03:15.84]She says Brigitte's concentration level [03:19.56]is really high and continues to improve. [03:23.80]And, she follows directions very well. [03:29.04]Nicole Sun says her daughter may have [03:33.00]more skill and interest in music than other children. [03:38.44]But the most important thing is that they found Felicia. [03:43.80]"Yeah, we are really lucky to have met her [03:47.76]and have her as Brigitte's first piano teacher," she said. [03:53.72]I'm Alice Bryant. 更多听力请访问51VOA.COM
